Purpose
The purpose of the HCDGC Bag Tag program is to add a fun, competitive element to casual rounds, leagues, and tournaments while promoting sportsmanship and community within the Hub City Disc Golf Club.
Bag Tags belong to the club, not the individual, and should remain accessible to all members. The HCDGC Board reserves the right to request the forfeiture of a tag or print a replacement tag of one not turned in.
- General Conduct
- Conduct yourself within the spirit of the game. Be respectful, honest, and have fun, it’s only a tag.
- All PDGA rules apply during Bag Tag challenges unless otherwise specified for a special event.
- Eligibility and Possession
- Only current HCDGC Bag Tags are eligible for challenges.
- You must have your Bag Tag physically present to issue or accept a challenge.
- Tags must be displayed or made available upon request during play.
- Members may not avoid challenges by leaving, hiding, or concealing their Bag Tag.
- Challenge Eligibility and Formats
- Any Bag Tag number may challenge any other Bag Tag number.
- Challenges must be verbally agreed upon before the start of the round.
- Challenges must be a single 18-hole round, unless otherwise agreed upon.

- Challenges may be issued to other players:

- The player being challenged has the right to select the HCDGC course and select the layout/tees/baskets to be played.
- An Organized Tag Competition (sometimes informally called a “Tag Dump”) is a clearly announced event format where all HCDGC Bag Tag holders in attendance compete for tags under the same conditions.
- The event or round is announced in advance as a Bag Tag competition
- All participating players compete on the same course and same layout
- All Bag Tags in attendance are placed in play for the designated round(s)
- Challenge Schedule and Enforcement
- The player being challenged must make a good-faith effort to schedule and complete the challenge within 30 days of accepting the challenge.
- If a challenge is not scheduled within 30 days of acceptance, either player may request the challenge be declared void by an HCDGC Board Member.
- A player may not issue or accept multiple outstanding challenges at the same time.
- A pending challenge must be completed or resolved before new challenges are issued or accepted.
- Repeated failure to respond to or accept challenges may result in forfeiture of tag at the discretion of the HCDGC Board.

- Casual Rounds
- Bag Tag challenges are optional during casual play.
- Players must agree on whether tags are in play and who is participating
- Once a challenge is accepted, it must be honored.
- Wins, Ties, and Exchanges
- The player with the lowest score for the round earns the lowest numbered Bag Tag among the challengers.
- Bag Tags must be exchanged immediately following the round.
- In the event of a tie:
- The player who started the round with the lowest numbered Bag Tag wins the tie.
- A sudden death playoff may be used only if all tied players agree.
- Rematches and Consecutive Challenges
- A player may not immediately re-challenge after losing.
- Consecutive challenges are allowed only if all the players involved agree.
- Incomplete or Abandoned Rounds

- If play is stopped by mutual agreement or external factors (weather, emergency, course closure) no tags are exchanged.
- Lost, Forgotten, or Concealed Tags
- If a Bag Tag is lost, it must be reported to a HCDGC Board Member as soon as possible.
- Replacement tags, if available, will be issued at the discretion of the Board.
- Any member may be required to surrender their Bag Tag if they are found to be intentionally concealing a tag, repeatedly “forgetting” their tag, refusing valid challenges, and denying reasonable access to their tag.
- Authority and Rule Changes
- The HCDGC Board reserves the right to resolve disputes interpret rules, modify or amend Bag Tag rules at any time.
- Suggestions for Bag Tag events, rule changes, or competitions are encouraged and may be submitted to any HCDGC Board Member.
